Overview
Stanley "Stan" Twardy is a leading corporate litigator. His practice is focused on helping clients with criminal, civil and regulatory investigations conducted by federal and state agencies.
Clients have included Fortune 500 companies, executives of these companies and others involved in federal and state criminal, regulatory and Securities and Exchange Commission investigations.
Stan has argued many civil and criminal cases in both federal and state appellate courts. In addition, he has been counsel of record in several cases before the Supreme Court of the United States.
Before entering private practice, Stan was a United States Attorney for the District of Connecticut and Chief of Staff to Connecticut Governor Lowell P. Weicker, Jr.
Stan has appeared in major publications, including Christian Science Monitor, Reuters, ABC News, New York Times, Bloomberg, Law360, Fortune and USA Today. In addition, he has been a prolific author, co-author and speaker. Since the late 1990s, he has been published or has spoken over one hundred times on complex corporate regulatory issues.
In 2023, Stan was the recipient of the prestigious Richard Law Award, which honors those who have rendered exemplary service to the federal court of Connecticut and is bestowed by the District Judges of Connecticut. He has consistently earned the highest professional ratings, including Martindale-Hubbell* (LexisNexis) and Best Lawyers* (Woodward/White, Inc.). In addition, public and private organizations throughout New England and beyond have often turned to Stan. For example, he has served on Connecticut's Advisory Panel on Judicial Appointments, the Special Olympics World Summer Games Organizing Committee and the Trinity College board of trustees.
