Katharine A. Coffey, a Real Estate Partner, has a new leadership post after being tapped as vice chair of the firm's corporate and business law department.
Day Pitney serves as principal outside counsel to the largest investor-owned water company in New England, providing this client with legal assistance relating to every aspect of its operations. We represent water companies in state regulatory proceedings and before state and federal courts. We have also represented water company clients in numerous complex transactions, including mergers and acquisitions, contractual arrangements and finance transactions. We provide water companies with advice regarding water quality and environmental regulations, real estate acquisitions and sales, labor and employment issues, and tax matters.
We have represented water companies in connection with their acquisitions and the later divestitures of those same companies. We have also represented a parent company in the acquisition of six water companies across four states. We represented a Connecticut water utility client in connection with the largest sale on record of water company land.
In other transactions, we have represented water companies in the negotiation of various contracts relating to extending water service to developers and of contracts for outsourcing of various services. We also represent the unregulated affiliate of one of our water clients in establishing water and sewer line protection programs in a number of states.
