Day Pitney Bolsters Growing Trusts & Estates Practice
Addition of group from Bingham McCutchen and an internal promotion extend firm capabilities, presence in Boston market
BOSTON Mass., November 24, 2014 - Day Pitney announced today the strategic expansion of its Trusts & Estates Practice through the acquisition of a Boston-based team from Bingham McCutchen. The transaction includes the addition of three highly regarded partners, Leila Dal Pos, David Silvian and Barbara Freedman Wand, and counsel Amy Lonergan. Additionally, Day Pitney's Boston office recently celebrated the promotion of Jillian Hirsch to partner effective January 1, 2015. Jillian's experience in probate litigation augments Day Pitney's service offerings to the individual client base and was a real attraction for the incoming team from Bingham.

Barbara Freedman Wand, a Fellow of the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel, focuses on sophisticated multi-generational estate planning, estate and trust administration and the development and implementation of philanthropic programs. She provides experienced counsel on lifetime and charitable giving, advises family and corporate foundations on mission, grant-making, and compliance, and assists charities with the development of planned giving programs. Wand received her B.A. from Brandeis University and her J.D. from Indiana University School of Law Bloomington. She is admitted to practice in Massachusetts and New York.
Leila Dal Pos focuses primarily on advising individuals, business owners and principals of private equity and hedge funds in the areas of wealth preservation, estate and tax planning, philanthropy and business succession planning. She serves as professional trustee of private trusts, and counsels individuals and financial institutions regarding probate and trust administration issues. Leila received her B.S. from Northeastern University and her J.D. from Suffolk Law School. She is admitted to practice in Massachusetts, New York and New Hampshire.
David Silvian focuses his practice on sophisticated estate planning and family office services. He also acts as a trustee and adviser on trust administration. His extensive experience in estate planning spans valuation discount planning, family LLCs, trust decanting and restructuring, planning for international families, and more. He received his B.A. from The University of Chicago and his J.D. from Cornell Law School. He is admitted to practice in Massachusetts and Connecticut.
Jillian Hirsch focuses her practice on probate litigation and controversies. She also has commercial litigation experience, where her practice includes representation of corporate clients in tort and contract disputes in both state and federal courts. She received her B.A. from the University of Pennsylvania and her J.D. from Fordham University School of Law. She is admitted to practice in Massachusetts, New Jersey and New York.
Amy Lonergan focuses on sophisticated estate planning techniques for high net worth individuals and families. Her experience in estate planning includes gift tax minimization strategies, life insurance planning, generation-skipping transfer tax planning and charitable gift planning. She received her B.A. from Baruch College and her J.D. from Suffolk University Law School. She is admitted to practice in Massachusetts.
