Chief Justice Robinson Keynotes UConn Law BLSA Graduation Event
Litigation Partner Chief Justice Richard Robinson (Ret.) delivered the keynote address at the Black Law Students Association (BLSA) graduation event, celebrating the achievements of the Class of 2025 from the University of Connecticut School of Law. Held on Friday, April 25, the event honored the achievements of graduating students, recognized the contributions of faculty and community members, and celebrated the collective journey of the BLSA community. This year’s theme, “Spring into Graduation,” represented growth, renewal, and the promising futures of the graduates.
Chief Justice Robinson shared words of wisdom and encouragement, drawing from his distinguished career in the legal field. His remarks touched on key topics including preparation for the Bar Examination, achieving long-term success in law, and the importance of upholding justice. He further emphasized unity, collaboration in defense of the rule of law, and the vital role that lawyers play in safeguarding democracy, leaving graduates inspired as they embark on the next chapter of their professional lives.
The Black Law Students Association (BLSA) is dedicated to advancing the professional goals and needs of Black law students by fostering a supportive and empowering environment. Through community-building and peer support, BLSA helps students navigate their law school experience and ensures their voices are heard. The organization promotes the success of people of color in the legal field and society at large by instilling awareness of their roles within the Black community and encouraging professional excellence. BLSA also advocates for systemic change by engaging law schools and legal institutions to better address the needs of the Black community. In addition, BLSA functions as both a social support network and a platform for political engagement, continuing vital conversations around race, justice, and the law while actively combating racism in all areas of society.
