Day Pitney Litigation Partner Elizabeth Sher Honored with a Professional Lawyer of the Year Award
Day Pitney is proud to announce that Litigation Partner and General Counsel Elizabeth J. Sher has been selected to receive a Professional Lawyer of the Year Award by the Association of the Federal Bar of New Jersey (AFBNJ). The Professional Lawyer of the Year Awards are part of the New Jersey State Bar Association (NJSBA) Committee on Professionalism’s annual program and are presented in cooperation with bar associations across the state to lawyers who are respected by colleagues for their character, competence, and exemplary professionalism. Each bar association selects a recipient for the honor each year.
“Beth represents the very best of our profession—not only in her legal acumen and leadership, but in the integrity, dedication, and professionalism she brings to every aspect of her work,” commented Gregory A. Hayes, Day Pitney Managing Partner. “We are incredibly proud to see her honored with the Professional Lawyer of the Year Award. It is a well-deserved recognition of her decades-long commitment to the law, her clients, and the legal community at large.”
“I am deeply honored to receive the Professional Lawyer of the Year Award from the AFBNJ and the NJSBA,” reflected Sher. “Throughout my career, I’ve been fortunate to work alongside and learn from colleagues who exemplify integrity, professionalism, and excellence in the law. This recognition is especially meaningful because it reflects the values at the heart of our profession—which I strive to uphold every day in my work and in service to the legal community.”

She is known among her peers as a prolific writer and editor, an accolade reinforced by her service for 17 years as a co-editor and author of ALM's treatise titled New Jersey Federal Civil Procedure. According to the publisher, this volume has become a premier resource for those practicing in the United States District Court for the District of New Jersey and the Third Circuit Court of Appeals.
Sher is a member of the Lawyers Advisory Committee for the U.S. District Court for the District of New Jersey and the Third Circuit Court of Appeals, and she is a current member of the Board of Trustees of the Historical Society of the U.S. District Court for the District of New Jersey. She is a volunteer mediator for the Morris County Superior Court, Chancery Division and is a member of the American Bar Association and the New Jersey State Bar Association – Business and Commercial Litigation Section.
