Day Pitney's Katharine Coffey Named a 2025 NJ INNOVATE100 Honoree
Day Pitney LLP proudly announces that Real Estate Partner Katharine A. Coffey has been named a 2025 INNOVATE100 Honoree by INNOVATE New Jersey. Coffey earned recognition in the Legal category for her significant contributions to the real estate field, including her work on transformative development initiatives and her commitment to community-focused legal solutions.
The INNOVATE100 list honors changemakers across a variety of sectors who drive internal transformation and lead positive change in their communities. According to INNOVATE New Jersey, honorees are nominated through a survey sent to approximately 200 business and nonprofit leaders, with a subcommittee reviewing and selecting the top nominees in each industry category. Based in New Jersey, Coffey is a seasoned real estate attorney and Vice-Chair of Day Pitney's Corporate Department, with over 15 years of experience advising developers and property owners on commercial, industrial, and multi-family development and redevelopment. Her practice covers land use and zoning, rezoning, acquisitions and dispositions, financing, and financial incentives, including tax exemptions and redevelopment area bonding, as well as leasing. She has extensive knowledge of New Jersey's complex development landscape, including affordable housing litigation and compliance, Highlands compliance, liquor license transfers, and real estate litigation. She also focuses on reciprocal easement agreements, condominium sponsorship and conversion, and serves as outside general counsel to commercial and residential condominium associations.
Her experience includes representing property owners and developers in complex real estate transactions, land use approvals, and redevelopment projects. She has secured site plans, subdivisions, and rezoning approvals, negotiated redevelopment agreements and PILOTs, and structured joint ventures and financing. Her work spans advising international publicly traded companies on the disposition and redevelopment of corporate campuses and build-to-suits of new space, national public companies on planning and entitlements in New Jersey, redevelopers through acquisitions, leasing, redevelopment planning and entitlements, as well as financing, and multi-family and tax credit developers on navigating third and fourth round affordable housing opportunities and approvals.
Actively involved in professional and community organizations, Coffey co-chairs the Morris County Bar Association's Land Use Committee and is a member of the Rutgers Real Estate Center Emerging Leaders Council and the Advisory Board of the Rutgers Center for Real Estate. She also serves as general counsel to the New Jersey Builder's Association Affordable Housing Committee. Coffey earned her J.D. from Emory University School of Law and her B.A., cum laude, from Washington & Lee University. She is admitted to practice in New Jersey and New York.
