Exploring Cultures Within Culture: Black History Month Fireside Chat with Dr. Nzinga Metzger
In honor of Black History Month, Day Pitney continued its Cultures within Culture series, which explores the diversity, layered identities, and rich distinctions that exist within communities.
On February 27, we had the privilege of welcoming Dr. Nzinga Metzger, anthropologist at Florida A&M University, as our guest speaker. Dr Metzger’s work focuses on cultural identity, community narratives, and the social dynamics that shape lived experiences within the African diaspora. Through her research, teaching, and public scholarship, she examines the complexities of culture, heritage, and belonging, bringing both academic insight and meaningful real‑world perspective to conversations about history and community.
We enjoyed an engaging and thought‑provoking discussion that sparked meaningful dialogue, deeper understanding, and celebrated the multifaceted nature of culture within our community.
