Hospitals, others beef up data security amid tougher oversight
Susan Huntington and Jim Bowers were quoted in an article, "Hospitals, others beef up data security amid tougher oversight," in The Hartford Business Journal. Huntington and Bowers emphasized that while the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services' Office for Civil Rights has launched its next wave of audits to make sure providers, health plans and others are compliant with privacy rules laid out within the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), they also expect more investigations, fines and legal actions both at the federal and state level based on oversight by the CT Attorney General's Office and other state attorneys general.
