In the article, Macauley offers best practices to people who choose to write their own wills, such as suggesting assigning beneficiaries for as many accounts as possible. "I’d rather have a DIY will because at least it gives the beneficiary named a fighting chance. If you die without a will, it doesn't matter what your wishes were," Macauley says.
