Day Pitney Names George Chaclas New Chair of Patent Prosecution and Counseling Group
Day Pitney LLP announced that George Chaclas has been named chair of the firm's Patent Prosecution and Counseling group. Chaclas is an Intellectual Property and Technology partner based in the firm's Providence, Rhode Island office.
"George has worked on sophisticated and diverse technologies and mentored a long list of successful patent attorneys," said Carrie Webb Olson, chair of the Intellectual Property and Technology practice. "His commitment to a client-focused practice and to the success of each matter entrusted to the firm is an integral part of our culture and will enable Day Pitney's continued success in patent procurement."
With over 20 years of patent prosecution experience and a dozen years as an engineer, Chaclas is recognized for his work in turning complex inventions into patent assets. He regularly assists the firm's clients in obtaining valuable proprietary rights in their inventions through the preparation and prosecution of patent applications and advises clients in the development and implementation of cost-effective patent procurement strategies and programs.
As chair of Day Pitney Patent Prosecution and Counseling group, Chaclas will be responsible for leading a team of six patent prosecution attorneys and supporting paralegals providing responsive, quality client service and developing unparalleled prosecution skills among the patent professionals.
Chaclas will succeed Andrew Riddles as chair, who will continue in the Day Pitney Intellectual Property and Technology practice focusing on complex intellectual property strategies, analytics, and disputes. "We thank Andrew for his many contributions to Day Pitney in furtherance of our Patent Prosecution and Counseling group. His thoughtful and astute leadership has been critical to our success," added Olson.
Chaclas earned his B.S. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Massachusetts – Amherst and his J.D. from the University of Connecticut School of Law.
