Coffey earned her B.A., cum laude, from Washington & Lee University and her J.D. from Emory University School of Law. She is admitted to practice in New Jersey and New York.
Marie C. Bertrand (Partner, Hartford) has been named co-chair of the Real Estate, Environmental and Land Use practice; she will serve alongside Craig M. Gianetti, who has been serving as co-chair with Coffey since May 2023. Bertrand assists clients with the acquisition, disposition, financing, and leasing of commercial real estate. She has experience drafting and reviewing equity documents, including joint venture agreements, property management agreements, and acquisition documents. Bertrand is the co-chair of Day Pitney's Diverse Attorneys affinity group and is actively engaged in the firm's efforts to promote diversity in the legal profession. She is a past president of the Connecticut Hispanic Bar Association and has been actively involved in the Lawyers Collaborative of Diversity in various leadership positions. She earned her B.S.B.A., summa cum laude, from the University of Pittsburgh, and her J.D., cum laude, from American University Washington College School of Law. She is admitted to practice in Connecticut and New York.
Sebastian Lombardi (Partner, Hartford) has been named to serve as the chair of the Energy and Utilities practice, succeeding Paul Belval, who has served in that role since January 2020 and remains a partner with the firm. Lombardi assists energy clients with all aspects of transactional and regulatory matters associated with federally regulated power markets. He is the lead counsel and secretary for the New England Power Pool (NEPOOL). In this capacity, Lombardi represents NEPOOL before the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) and regularly provides counsel on a wide range of matters, including those related to the design and operation of New England's wholesale electricity markets. He is the President of the Northeast Chapter of the Energy Bar Association and also serves as a member of the Board of Directors of the Connecticut Airport Authority. Lombardi earned his B.A. from the University of Richmond, his M.A. from Johns Hopkins University, and his J.D. from the University of Connecticut School of Law. He is admitted to practice in Connecticut and before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit.
"We sincerely thank Susan and Paul for their years of service and many contributions to the firm, the Corporate department, and the Energy and Utilities practice," stated Gregory A. Hayes, Day Pitney's Managing Partner. "We congratulate Kate, Marie, and Sebastian on their new leadership roles at the firm, and we look forward to working with each of them as they build on the successes of their predecessors."
