Erick Sandler coordinated the recent Federal Bar Council CLE program, “Evolving Federal Court Case Management: The 2015 Civil Rule Amendments and Beyond,” which was presented at the Bridgeport federal courthouse on November 12.  The program featured three prominent judges to discuss the amendments to the Federal Rules that will go into effect on December 1 as well as federal case management initiatives being pursued in the various federal district courts.  The Honorable Stefan R. Underhill, U.S. District Judge (D. Conn.), served as the moderator and gave an enlightening presentation on the District of Connecticut’s track record for case management and what rule changes may enhance the district’s case management performance.  The Honorable John G. Koeltl, U.S. District Judge, S.D.N.Y., who played a prominent role in the adoption of the new rule changes through his service on the Advisory Committee on Civil Rules and as Chair of the Duke Conference Subcommittee, gave an in depth presentation on the new rules and how they are likely to impact federal court litigation.  The Honorable John F. Anderson, U.S. Magistrate Judge, E.D. Virginia, also appeared to present on the “rocket docket” case management procedures utilized by his court.  Other Connecticut federal judges attended the program as did many federal court practitioners.
