Overview

Erick Sandler represents clients in complex business disputes and shareholder and securities litigation. He has handled large scale litigation matters for clients in a variety of fields, including financial services, energy, aerospace, manufacturing, e-commerce, real estate, healthcare and life sciences, education and insurance. Clients seek out Erick for his extensive experience handling disputes involving contracts, fiduciary duty claims, unfair trade practices, antitrust, M&A, joint ventures and closely held businesses, class actions, trusts and estates, real estate and land use, and taxation. In addition to his trial practice, Erick has handled appeals in federal and state courts.

Erick has litigated constitutional claims, including successful First Amendment challenges to the application of state lobbying and electioneering laws. He has also represented parties in disputes under the Hague Convention on the Civil Aspects of International Child Abduction. In recognition of his trial and appellate advocacy, Erick received a Connecticut Bar Association Pro Bono Award.

Representation of REMIC trustee in pursuing veil-piercing and fraudulent transfer claims to collect multimillion dollar judgment; member of trial team that obtained a favorable judgment on the veil-piercing claims and award of punitive damages after seven-week jury trial; member of appellate team that obtained decision affirming judgment

Defense of retail energy supplier against antitrust, tortious interference and unfair business practices claims arising from municipal energy contracting; successfully moved to dismiss action

Representation of energy generation company in arbitration of claims arising under tolling agreement

Representation of aerospace parts manufacturer in arbitration of claims arising under supply agreement

Defense of majority owner and president of corporation engaged in the wholesale of trophy and award components against minority shareholders' claims of mismanagement and self-dealing; successfully moved to dismiss action, resulting in dismissal of all claims with prejudice

Defense of trustees of family trusts holding assets worth several hundreds of millions of dollars against beneficiary's claims for breach of fiduciary duty and conflicts of interest arising from trustees' positions as officers and directors of public company

Representation of helicopter manufacturer in trial and appeal that established client's entitlement to sales and use tax exemption for research and development equipment used in manufacturing aircraft parts and components

Defense of e-commerce company against putative class action brought by customer alleging breach of contract, breach of implied covenant of good faith and fair dealing, and unjust enrichment; member of team that obtained dismissal of action
