Laura’s blend of skills in privacy (CIPP-US), intellectual property licensing, information security and cyber risk management, and complex transactions enable her to provide comprehensive and integrated legal advice.  She has a practical outlook after working in-house at large public companies, where she partnered closely with business, privacy, information security, software and technology development teams to deliver business results while reasonably protecting vital interests.  She brings a deep understanding of business priorities and collaborates seamlessly with internal teams to align legal strategies with the strategic significance and risk profile of each initiative.

Laura's experience includes 15 years in-house at two outsourcing companies, a leading global bank, and a “born in the cloud” technology company.  She has delivered advice and developed templates for data analytics, healthcare, sourcing, third party risk management, financial services, fintech, insuretech, incident response, Internet of Things, transformation, software and product development.  Laura particularly enjoys privacy-by-design projects, which require delving deeply into technical details to appropriately negotiate contract clauses, draft policies, support third party risk management programs, and advise on privacy and other regulations. In addition, Laura has experience managing data security incidents and litigating employment, civil rights and commercial cases.  With this deep and broad experience, Laura readily spots issues and recommends risk mitigation strategies.

AI is Laura's latest passion and focus.  She is a member of the firm's AI committee and has published articles on AI. With her knowledge of privacy, IP, data analytics, cyber security and vendor transactions, she is positioned well to handle AI matters.  She drafts AI policies, negotiates AI clauses and advises on emerging laws impacting AI use and development. She has completed the IAPP AI Governance Professional training and regularly attends AI conferences to stay abreast of the latest AI regulations and technology developments.

Laura lives in Old Greenwich, CT with her two sons, and works out of Day Pitney's New York City and Stamford offices.  She is active in Connecticut groups fostering development of technology companies as well as legal organizations in Connecticut and New York City.  Laura plays both tennis and pickleball, and enjoys traveling, live music, beaches, boating, museums and reading.
